Top 10 Thoughts On Sports

Week 11/12/09 - 11/19/09

10) Sports were dominated this week by the history channel. That “WWII in HD” was incredible.

9) The SEC needs new officials after LSU’s screw-job against Alabama last week.

8) Was his mom drunk when she spelled his name “Dwyane” Wade? What is that? “Dwyane.” A holy city in the middle east?

7) Does anyone need TV to watch sports anymore? There are dozens of websites now where you can watch any game at any time. I’m on ESPN 360 or channelsurfing.net all the time. I've got sports on my computer and re-runs of Seinfeld on my TV. THAT is livin’.

6) Lately I’ve been wondering when that National Spelling Bee starts. I hear there’s an Indian kid with glasses that is supposed to kick ass this year.

5) Who else would have bought points and bet on Stanford -10 against USC? I did and it paid off BIG TIME.

4) This video just never gets old. How does Mike Patrick still have a job in broadcasting? (turn sound up a little)

3) Joe Buck? Or pencil eraser? Which is which?

2) Michigan fans need to start campaigning to fire Rich Rodriguez. With him and his losing ways, why would Devin Gardner want to commit to Michigan? (for those unaware of him, watch the video to see how good he is)

1) This video sums up the Detroit Lions throughout the last 10 years. Gotta' teach those fundamentals.

Hottie Female Athlete of the Week: Allison Stokke, pole vaulter University of California

On a more serious note, what is going to happen this year in the BCS Standings? I am sick and tired of "the little guy" getting pushed aside every year. With TCU, Cincinnati, and Boise State still unbeaten and likely to stay that way, where will they place?

If Florida and Alabama remain unbeaten, then yes, the winner of the SEC Championship has full right to claim a BCS Championship shot. But between Texas and everyone else, who is to say who the challenger will be? Nobody. It is a ridiculous computer that determines the outcome.

Last year Utah finished unbeaten, and even beat Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. In 2007, Boise State went unbeaten, and knocked off Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl. But neither team got to challenge for the National Championship. Speculation is that the computers are rigged and keep the lesser known teams like Cincinnati, TCU, and Bosie State down because the NCAA feels the ratings for a championship game would go down if those teams were in it.

I say America has always been one to root for the underdog. If it came to be that TCU were to play Florida or Alabama, the majority of people might cheer for the Horned Frogs in hopes to see the upset of the millenium. It might actually increase ratings. But we will never know until a playoff system is implemented and the top 8 teams battle it out for supremacy.

  1. I got to see Allison in person, and she is way gorgeous.

I do agree if TCU or Cinci played in the 'ship more people may tune in. I honestly skip the championship game most years because I have hard time accepting the BCS. However, let one of the "little" schools get in there, and I'd watch for sure

  2. I was watching the Georgia Alabama game when Mike Patrick started babbling about Britney. What kind of man his age listens or cares about Britney's career? The answer is the creepy ones. I'm sure he got a stern lecture on how any downtime should be committed to plugging one of ABCs' wonderful programming.

  4. Really well done. I like the variety of subjects. What amazes me is how the National Spelling Bee earns a spot on ESPN and actually captivates an audience.

  5. The Mike Patrick comment is funny. The magnitude of the moment clearly doesn't matter to Patrick, he has Brittany on his mind and is intent of talking about her on a first name basis. Nice Video.
