Top 10 Thoughts On Sports

Week 11/19/09 - 12/01/09

10) Urban Meyer would be a fool to leave Florida for Notre Lame. (see what I did there? Replaced the D with an L)

9) Come on people... Does Rich Rodriguez REALLY deserve to be fired? Yes. The answer is yes.

An actual website to support my statement: http://www.firerrod.com/

8) I personally guarantee that Alabama WILL beat Florida next week in the SEC Championship. This lady could sack Tim Tebow all day long. ROLL TIDE!

7) I am done with the Pistons. They look really, really bad.

6) The Red Wings HAVE to get a goalie before the trade deadline.

5) I didn't know 50 Cent played for the Pistons...

4) I’m campaigning for a shared NFL MVP for Brett Favre and Drew Brees.

3) Best mascots in sports: Hooper from the Detroit Pistons, the Philly Phanatic from the Phillies, Georgia Bulldogs’ Uga, and LSU's Mike the Tiger.

2) *Sigh* oh Detroit fans, why does this happen every year? Stafford has one great game and he’s the "Messiah." Then he plays terrible and he sucks. Something tells me it was the great game that was the fluke. After all, he did play Cleveland.

1) Even Hitler is upset with the Lions (WARNING: extremely funny)

Hottie Female Athlete of the Week: I decided to pick a few girls this week since it took me longer than a week to post, and because it is the last post of the semester. I think I saved the best for last:

Gina Carano, MMA fighter.

Pauline Nordin, fitness model/bodybuilder

and 2 pics of Samantha Baker, fitness model/bodybuilder

To finish this week's blog, I would like to give my picks on Sunday Night and Monday Night Football:

Steelers +7.5
Ravens -7.5
-- Take the Steelers +7.5. Even though Big Ben might not play, beating the Steelers by 8 points is not easy to do.

Patriots +1.5
Saints -1.5
-- Take the Patriots +1.5. New England has won 4 of their last 5 and are playing like the Pats of old, and New Orleans has to lose sometime. What better week than this?

Top 10 Thoughts On Sports

Week 11/12/09 - 11/19/09

10) Sports were dominated this week by the history channel. That “WWII in HD” was incredible.

9) The SEC needs new officials after LSU’s screw-job against Alabama last week.

8) Was his mom drunk when she spelled his name “Dwyane” Wade? What is that? “Dwyane.” A holy city in the middle east?

7) Does anyone need TV to watch sports anymore? There are dozens of websites now where you can watch any game at any time. I’m on ESPN 360 or channelsurfing.net all the time. I've got sports on my computer and re-runs of Seinfeld on my TV. THAT is livin’.

6) Lately I’ve been wondering when that National Spelling Bee starts. I hear there’s an Indian kid with glasses that is supposed to kick ass this year.

5) Who else would have bought points and bet on Stanford -10 against USC? I did and it paid off BIG TIME.

4) This video just never gets old. How does Mike Patrick still have a job in broadcasting? (turn sound up a little)

3) Joe Buck? Or pencil eraser? Which is which?

2) Michigan fans need to start campaigning to fire Rich Rodriguez. With him and his losing ways, why would Devin Gardner want to commit to Michigan? (for those unaware of him, watch the video to see how good he is)

1) This video sums up the Detroit Lions throughout the last 10 years. Gotta' teach those fundamentals.

Hottie Female Athlete of the Week: Allison Stokke, pole vaulter University of California

On a more serious note, what is going to happen this year in the BCS Standings? I am sick and tired of "the little guy" getting pushed aside every year. With TCU, Cincinnati, and Boise State still unbeaten and likely to stay that way, where will they place?

If Florida and Alabama remain unbeaten, then yes, the winner of the SEC Championship has full right to claim a BCS Championship shot. But between Texas and everyone else, who is to say who the challenger will be? Nobody. It is a ridiculous computer that determines the outcome.

Last year Utah finished unbeaten, and even beat Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. In 2007, Boise State went unbeaten, and knocked off Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl. But neither team got to challenge for the National Championship. Speculation is that the computers are rigged and keep the lesser known teams like Cincinnati, TCU, and Bosie State down because the NCAA feels the ratings for a championship game would go down if those teams were in it.

I say America has always been one to root for the underdog. If it came to be that TCU were to play Florida or Alabama, the majority of people might cheer for the Horned Frogs in hopes to see the upset of the millenium. It might actually increase ratings. But we will never know until a playoff system is implemented and the top 8 teams battle it out for supremacy.

Top 10 Thoughts On Sports

Week 11/04/09 - 11/11/09

10)Does Howie Long age at all? The dude is 50, but he’s looked 30 for the past 10 years.

9)Is anyone else SHOCKED that the NFL season is half over already?

8)Best logos in sports: Hartford Whalers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Tigers Old English "D"

7) Worst logos in sports: Detroit Lions, Oklahoma City Thunder, Charlotte Bobcats

6)Greatest BCS Championship ever: TCU Horned Frogs vs Cincinnati Bearcats

5)When he was Chad Johnson, we all called him OchoCinco, now that he is Chad OchoCinco, I can't help but call him Chad Johnson. Is that wrong?

4)Who does Chris Collinsworth look like more? Beavis or Butthead? I can't decide.

3)Erin Andrews? Uhhh, Melanie Collins from the Big 10 Network totally blows her away.

2)Does anyone else think John Gruden talks way too much on Monday Night Football?Does he ever just watch the game? He almost makes me want Dennis Miller and Tony Cornheiser to come back. OK, that last part was a lie.

1)The Red Wings are starting slow, yes. But if they started fast, Detroiters wouldn’t be able to do what they do best; complain.
